چکیده
AbstructThis paper describes the design of a CMOS capacitor-ratio-independent and gain-insensitive algorithmic analog-to-digital (A/D) converter. Using the fully differential switched-capacitor technique, the A/D converter is insensitive to capacitor-ratio accuracy as well as finite gain and offset voltage of operational amplifiers. The switch-induced error voltage becomes the only major error source, which is further suppressed by the fully differential structure. The proposed A/D converter is designed and fabricated by 0.8 pm double-poly double-metal CMOS technology. The op-amp gain is only 60 dB and no special layout care is done for capacitor matching. Experimental results have shown that 14-b resolution at the sampling frequency of 10 kHz can be achieved in the fabricated A/D converter. Thus it can be used in the applications which require low-cost high-resolution A/D conversion.

This paper proposes a 1.5 V 12-b CMOS ratio-independent algorithmic analog-to-digital converter (ADC) based on a capacitor-mismatch insensitive technique. A novel switched-capacitor multiplying digital-to-analog converter (MDAC) with an accurate gain of two is proposed for an algorithmic ADC. The proposed MDAC architecture requires only one opamp in four phases to generate the next residue outp...
متن کاملA Nyquist-Rate Pixel-Level ADC for CMOS Image Sensors - Solid-State Circuits, IEEE Journal of
A multichannel bit-serial (MCBS) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented. The ADC is ideally suited to pixel-level implementation in a CMOS image sensor. The ADC uses successive comparisons to output one bit at a time simultaneously from all pixels. It is implemented using a 1-bit comparator/latch pair per pixel or per group of neighboring pixels, and a digital-to-analog-converter/contro...

An analog-to-digital converter incorporating a distributed track-and-hold preprocessing combined with folding and interpolation techniques has been designed in CMOS technology. The presented extension of the well known folding concept has resulted in a 75 MHz maximum full-scale input signal frequency. A signal-to-noise ratio of 44 dB is obtained for this frequency. The 8-b A/D converter achieve...

Oversampled analog-to-digital ( A D ) converter architectures offer a means of exchanging resolution in time for that in amplitude so as to avoid the difficulty of implementing complex precision analog circuits. These architectures thus represent an attractive approach to implementing precision A/D converters in scaled digital VLSI technologies. This paper examines the practical design criteria...
